Four Set for Tryouts

Posted by nickwagoner on May 10, 2012 – 3:47 PM

– The Rams will kick off their rookie minicamp on Friday afternoon but the players will be arriving to town tonight. All told, there will be 39 Rams on the field this weekend with the only non true rookie being center Tim Barnes, who finished last year on the practice squad.

– In addition to the drafted and undrafted rookies, the Rams have at least four players coming on a tryout basis in hopes of earning a shot at an undrafted rookie contract to return for OTAs, the veteran minicamp and training camp.

– Here’s the list of those tryout players…

– Auburn QB Barrett Trotter – Asked to fill the big shoes of Cam Newton as the starter for Auburn in 2011 and finished with 1,184 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions for a rating of 129.2.

– Temple WR Mike Campbell – Spent time on the Jets practice squad in 2011 after entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2011.

– Maryland WR Tony Logan – Undrafted free agent had nine catches for 68 yards in 2011 but showed most of his value as a returner. Had two punt returns for touchdowns in 2010.

– Arizona State WR Travis Simpson – Undrafted free agent who missed entire 2011 season with a knee injury. Had 29 catches for 481 yards as a junior.

Looks like,a great try out. Wish I could be a fly on the wall. To see, the battles! It should, be a heck of a sight! Too, bad it won’t be seen by the fans. Oh well. Check it out for us. Tell us what you think, after it transpired. Thanks.
