Rams Begin Packers Prep

– The Rams got back to the practice field on Wednesday afternoon as they begin preparation for Sunday’s showdown against the powerful Packers.

– The points of emphasis this week for the Rams are pretty simple and straightforward.

On Offense: Finish drives with touchdowns.

On Defense: Come up with more turnovers.

On Special Teams: Win the field position battle.

– All three of those things contributed to the Rams being unable to get a win against Miami and will be very important if the Rams are to come away with a win against Green Bay.

– The struggles on offense are a function of a number of areas the Rams are working to correct, especially the penalties that have seemed to plague them repeatedly in important situations.

– The drop off in takeaways for the defense has been a bit surprising after the way the Rams started in that area but at the same time, those numbers do tend to normalize over time.

– For special teams, no need to panic after last week as it was the first week the Rams lost that phase of the game but there will be an emphasis on improving field position and winning the battle. That could go a long way to helping the offense as well. The longer the field, the more plays you have to run and the more likely you are to make a mistake. Shorten the field and more touchdowns should follow.

– The Rams actually had Monday off entirely and were back in the facility hard at work on Tuesday. That’s done in part to get a jump start on the Packers as they know they are facing a difficult challenge this week.

– On the injury front, the Rams don’t have any real surprises on Wednesday. Here’s how it breaks down:

Did Not Practice: WR Danny Amendola (shoulder), T Rodger Saffold (knee), LB Mario Haggan (thigh), T Wayne Hunter (back) and CB Janoris Jenkins (back).
