Rams Get Extra Rest

– One day after coach Jeff Fisher pulled back on the reins of his team a bit in Wednesday’s practice by going with a slightly faster than walk through pace, he continued to give his team a bit of extra rest on Thursday when he pushed practice and meetings back a few hours to let the Rams sleep in.

– The impetus, of course, comes from playing five full quarters in a mentally and physically exhausting game against the Niners last week.

– On Thursday, Fisher said he has liked how his team has responded to the additional rest.

“We’re back,” Fisher said. “We back down yesterday and we let them rest up a little bit this morning and we pushed things back so they were great today. I think we’ll be fine.”

– Part of the reason for that belief is the long-awaited return to the Edward Jones Dome. The Rams have not played in the Edward Jones Dome since Oct. 21, which will have been almost a month. He said Thursday he can sense the appreciation by team in returning to work at the Dome.

“We talked about that and the last time here at home we didn’t play particularly well,” Fisher said. “But the three previous games we did so they are looking forward to getting back and taking advantage of our fans and playing a good opponents. It’s nice to finally get back in a normal routine.”

– Thursday’s practice was quite animated as the Rams seem to be downright loose and enjoying being back to work. Coming off a disappointing tie against the Niners, Fisher and assistant head coach Dave McGinnis both said they are pleased with how the team has bounced back from that game.

– On the injury report, only one slight change. Here it is:

No Participation: WR Austin Pettis (toe)
Limited Participation: S Darian Stewart (knee), DE Eugene Sims (knee), LB Mario Haggan (thigh)

– The Jets have a long list of players on their report but a notable addition is S LaRon Landry, who did not participate with a heel injury. Other notables include LB Bart Scott (toe) and DL Sione Pouha (low back/ankle), both of whom were limited.

– That’s all for today. Thanks for reading.
